ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!

So tonite this is how I'm feeling after watching a DVR'd episode of Flashpoint. I just want to kick and scream! Why is the media still portraying us birthmothers as crazy ladies who will find the baby and kidnap them????!!!! I sat the whole time with my jaw clenched tight watching the dumb thing. It really ticked me off. This is why a lot of adoptive couples don't want an open adoption and this isn't fair to us. Why can't there be an episode on some show about how an open adoption is really a good thing. (Which it definately is!) Maybe I'll write to the stations and ask them that question and see what kind of response I get. That actually would be interesting.
I have to go stretch out my jaw now.

Happy Birthmother's Day!

Today is Birth Mother's Day. A legal holiday that just last year didn't really mean anything to me. I didn't even know about it. This year it has been a special day, a very special day. I became a mother on January 20th and on February 2nd I became a birthmother. I placed Zadok with the Owensby's 3 months ago and I am so happy with my decision. He is such a cute little man. He is doing so great! He definately belongs to Steve and Angie and when I think about how I almost took that away from him, it breaks my heart.

My mom and I and the Owensby's went to an adoption academy in Glendale today and spoke on a panel about open adoptions to others who are hoping to adopt. It was great! There were also 2 other girls who were adopted 17 and 14 years ago who have had open adoptions since then, which was NEVER done back then. My mom got to hold Z the whole time, which she loved. Here are some pictures from our day. We went to Fajitas afterward, which was really good.

Again the camera won't work so I will post pics later.

Honey Moon Sweets

Ahhhh....Honey Moon Sweets. I have to tell one and all about this little place. The cakes, cupcakes, pastries, cookies and everything else they have is just wonderful. They are located on the NW corner of Southern and Roosevelt and I highly recommend trying them out. The eclairs are $3.00 but dang they are REAL eclairs. Not donut eclairs. They are filled with custard and I could go on and on about this place. Try it for yourself and you will not be disappointed. I promise.

Easter 09~FHE

Look at this handsome boy!!! He's getting so big. I just can't believe it.
He's gonna be a ladies man. He's so happy!
I love this one with his little eyebrow raised. This is from FHE a week and a half ago. I have more pics but the cameras are being wierd and won't let me download them.

Angie told me that they had a court date of June 25th! I'm so excited for them! And it's 2 days before my birthday. Monica asked me how I felt about the court date and I am actually fine with it. I figured when I signed all of the adoption papers on February 20th that it was final, so I'm excited for this to happen.

You hafta be creative

So at work, Tempe Trophy, we were doing some expensive awards for a customer and we tried to use silver rub n buff to color the text after we had sandblasted it. Well, the rub n buff was smearing everywhere and my awsome boss, Cliff was getting irritated with it. So we had to come up with another way to get it silver. Out comes the silver gel pens. Yup, I personally colored each letter with a gel pen. Sometimes, you have to get creative to make things work. (I photoshopped the name of the company and the receipient out so no one can say anything.) This plate costs about $230.00. Ridiculous if you ask me but I didn't pay it so I don't care. Check out our website and on the right side there is a tab that says "originals", click it and see some of the custom awards we have made for people. .
This is such a fun job! We get to be creative and have fun at the same time. I love when a customer lets us design an award for them. Especially when money is no object to them.
If you can dream it, we can make it. Sometimes

ummm...

Angie called me tonite and said she was going to post pics on the blog so I got out of bed and I'm sitting here waiting to see them.

I loved conference today!!! It was sooo wonderful! I especially loved Elder Hollands talk this morning. I have been wondering what feelings conference would bring to me since placing Zadok with his amazing and wonderful parents, Steve and Angie. All the feelings of excitement and happiness for this sweet little spirit came rushing back. Some of the sad ones for myself did too but they quickly went away as I thought of the wonderful life he will have.

The Owensby's are coming to our big FHE tomorrow nite and everyone is so excited to see them and get to know them. Steve and Angie are in for a big surprise when they see how many family members they get to meet. I'm so excited that little Z will know my extended family as well. He is one loved little boy!!

Skool

I signed up to take an English class during summer. I know it's easier in the summer which is what I am all about! I'm nervous to go but excited because I am getting my pre-reqs done so I can get my degree in Social Work. I found out that I had most of them done just from going for the last 10 or 12 years. Lucky me, huh? I have to take a foreign language class (4 semesters) so I chose to take Spanish because I already had 3 semesters of it. HAHAHA!!! I took 3 semesters of conversational spanish and I have to take Spanish 101-202. Dangit! Oh well. The first couple of semesters should be easy A's. I hope!
